I don't relate to this story. My father left us when I was 4 years old. The one thing he shared was how to enjoy fishing. No talks, no words of wisdom..just fishing with little to no talks. Now, my stepfather, here is a man who talked, listened and outlined responsibility and accountability AND the importance of education, talk about opposite ends of the spectrum. I loved him and what he did without ever saying anything negative about my Dad. Unfortunately he passed away and we never finished our journey. I try to emulate his patience and sense of humor with my sons. Parenting is more difficult in the age of media influence.
